The most original gay bar in Phnom Penh

Blue Chilli stands proud as the best-known and the longest-running gay bar in Cambodia. Eleven years after the grand opening, Blue Chilli is still the most popular choice of the LGBT+ community in Phnom Penh – with hip drag shows and potent cocktails keeping the diverse crowd happy until the early hours.

Head down to this easygoing bar if you want to sample a few drinks, meet up with friends and enjoy a great night out. Spend your pink dollars wisely during happy hour, daily from 5 tot 8 pm. You can choose from a range of creative and fancy cocktails crafted by experienced mixologists.

Exciting entertainment

Have cocktails, wine or beer at the bar, or sit down outside to catch a breeze and watch the street life of Phnom Penh go by, a great way to relax. Although be warned: as the night gets later things do heat up – especially around 10:30 pm, when the drag show starts. From Wednesday till Saturday, you’ll see a series of lip-syncing divas take to the stage. Prepare to be blown away by a variety of fun and decadent delights. Just sit back and enjoy the show.

The bar organizes exciting events regularly, so don’t forget to check out the Facebook page to find out what’s coming up next.

A fabulous crowd

Expect plenty of beautiful people. Blue Chilli is the preferred bar for very diverse crowd of all nationalities and orientations, with locals, expats, tourists and those attracted by the rainbow flag that flies outside. The bar is relaxed – a perfect place for travellers to meet new people and chat with the friendly staff.

There’s no airs or graces here, although there is a lot of royalty: it is the favorite after-dark hangout for all the kings and queens of the LGBT+ community. But Blue Chilli is also straight-friendly, as the bar welcomes everyone with open arms, no matter what your background and preferences are.

A trendsetting bar

The atmosphere is warm, jolly and a little bit rough around the edges, a reminder of the pioneer spirit it has preserved since the opening in 2006. Even now, the gay scene in Phnom Penh still revolves around Blue Chilli. This bar is a gay institution that has stood the test of time and still thrives today. You haven’t been to Phnom Penh if you haven’t been to Blue Chilli.

Located on Street 178 – in an area which is pretty much the LGBT+ epicenter of the country – the lively bar is in easy walking distance from Riverside and a stone’s throw away from the Royal Palace and the National Museum. Now you know where to go when the sun sets in Phnom Penh.
